The Office of Information and Technology (OIT) is the Department of Veterans Affairs organization that builds and runs the department’s IT systems, networks, security and end-user support for the Veterans Health Administration, the Veterans Benefits Administration and the National Cemetery Administration. It is one of the largest civilian IT organizations in the government, and its listings are almost entirely in the 2210 information technology series, with the specialty shown in the parenthetical.

Recent listings have included IT specialists in information security, systems administration, applications software, policy and planning, and systems analysis and customer support, an IT cybersecurity specialist, a supervisory IT specialist in policy and planning, and a supervisory general engineer.

Applying tip: the 2210 parentheticals are OPM’s specialty codes, and OIT reads your experience against the one in the title, so an INFOSEC announcement wants security work and a SYSADMIN announcement wants server and systems operations, even though both are IT specialist jobs.
