Summary

The Clinical Administrative Specialist is assigned to the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff (Medicine Services) at the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System (VA EKHCS), a 2-complexity facility providing primary and secondary medical, surgical and diagnostic care to Veterans in Kansas and Missouri.

Duties

This is a developmental position. At this level, assignments are designed to prepare the incumbent to perform the duties and responsibilities in the target position of Clinical Administrative Specialist. At the GS-07 level, the employee performs recurring administrative assignments using established methods, procedures, and accepted practices. The incumbent exercises judgment in carrying out assigned work and refers to unusual or complex situations to the supervisor. The level of knowledge, analytical skill, independence and judgment exercised is less than that required of the full performance GS-09 position. Duties include but may not be limited to the following: Responsible for accuracy of clinical data for both clinical and administrative reports and assists on all action items related to this data. Assists the Supervisory Health System Specialist with administrative support activities related to assigned programs, including data collection, reporting, and program evaluation support. Plans, conducts, and/or manages special projects or studies to analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations on administrative programs or issues. Researches and analyzes problems, issues, or program requirements. Researches recurring operational analyses. Responsible for daily review, communication and follow-up of missed opportunity report, clinic utilization statistical summary report, delinquent encounters report, delinquent consults report, recall reminders report, and other clinical management data reports. Monitors training requirements for existing staff and notifies respective supervisors of training deficiencies before the training becomes delinquent. Coordinates daily coverage for clinical areas. This will require compiling leave requests from the providers, reviewing daily demands, working with the reviewing appointment scheduling list, etc. Biweekly labor mapping in National labor mapping tool based on VISTA clinical time and approved administrative time within the constraints of policy for assigned clinicians. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm or 8:00am - 4:30pm or 8:30am - 5:00p or 9:00am - 5:30pm Telework: Ad-hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
