The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a MAJCOM Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Weapons Safety. Implement, execute, and evaluate the Air National Guard (ANG) Explosives and Occupational Safety and Health Programs at locations with ANG assigned personnel. Develop technical support to weapons/explosives command operations worldwide.
Duties
1. Serve as MAJCOM Weapons Safety technical expert with duties, responsibilities and authorities to oversee, manage, plan, develop, organize, administer, evaluate and coordinate ANG weapons safety programs. 2. Serve as the subject matter expert to the ANG Inspector General (IG) Team; coordinating Unit Effectiveness Inspection safety team composition; organizing virtual inspection teams and validating completion of virtual inspections; provide ANG Safety equities during final publication coordination process to ANG IG Team, and tracking identified deficiencies to closure. 3. Serves as the MAJCOM technical expert for application of quantity distance criteria for potential explosion sites and exposed sites. 4. Serves as the Functional Area Manager, manages the Commands Weapons Safety taskforce and provides technical support for explosives safety issues. 5. Executes ANG Weapons and Occupational Safety Programs and prepares supplements to Air Force instructions based on interpretation of policies, standards, and regulations applicable to weapons/explosives and occupational safety. 6. Provides technical safety training/instruction to ANG unit supervisors, employees, and/or unit safety representatives on wide range of normal operations such as proper handling and storage of weapons/explosives, explosives transportation, proper storage of hazardous materials, building evacuation procedures and industrial occupational operations.
