Duties

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), Department of Athletics, anticipates filling the TERM full-time position of INSTRUCTOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION (ASSISTANT TRACK AND FIELD). This is a Title 10 Excepted Service Appointment. Appointment is not to exceed 5 years. Extensions and/or Subsequent re-appointments may be considered based upon an assessment of performance, Air Force and departmental needs, and funding availability. Major Duties of the Position: Provides all cadets with realistic leadership and character development experience in a mentally and physically challenging environment. Prepares and motivates cadets for a lifetime of service through physical education, fitness training, and testing, intramural and intercollegiate athletic competition. Promotes Academy to the nation through athletics. Effectively instructs cadets in undergraduate Physical Education courses. Prepares course materials according to published course descriptions and delivers well-organized instruction to facilitate student learning. Counsels and evaluates assigned cadets as appropriate. Effectively provides student assessment and motivation. Provides extra instruction outside normal class and practice hours for cadets who require or request it. Serves as a course director when required by the Department of Physical Education. Manages all facets of the intercollegiate track & field programs. Instructs cadets in the sport of track & field programs. Effectively assists in all organizational aspects of the intercollegiate track & field programs, including but not limited to lesson planning, scheduling, budgeting, maintenance of supply and equipment accounts, and safety of athletic facilities and physical training. Manages training programs in full compliance with the rules, regulations, and bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Mountain West Conference (MWC) or other applicable conference affiliation and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Provides guidance to assistant coaches to ensure the professional conduct and performance of the program's staff. Manage, administer, and instruct summer sports camps as required by the Executive Director of Athletics.

Education

EDUCATION: If selected, you will be requested to provide original copies of ALL OFFICIAL transcripts for degrees being pursued or obtained (or letter of degree completion if an OFFICIAL transcript is not available due to recent graduation) to support your educational claims as stated in your curriculum vitae. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a transcript to be considered OFFICIAL, it should be printed on university letterhead and the registrar's official seal/signature must appear on the transcript. Your transcripts must also reflect the degree awarded/conferred date. Transcripts labeled UNOFFICIAL will not be accepted. Upon request, ensure you include ALL transcripts to support your educational claims as stated in your curriculum vitae (resume) even if not required for this position. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
