Duties

REVIEW THE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BELOW FOR FURTHER DETAILS The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position. Design and build data pipelines: Create scalable and reliable data pipelines using tools like Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, and cloud-based services (e.g., AWS Glue). Implement and maintain the Extract, Transform, and Load (or Load and Transform) processes to move data from source to target systems. Develops ETL pipelines in Databricks and Python. Optimizes data ingestion from multiple source systems. Design, develop and operate systems and features relating to data ingestion and transformation. Data transformation and cleansing: Apply advanced techniques like parsing, cleansing, normalization, and transformation to ensure data quality and consistency. Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to identify and fix inefficiencies, optimize performance, and ensure scalability. Designs transformation logic to ensure compliance with data model standards. Data validation and quality: Conduct data validation and testing to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with data governance policies. Monitors data flow performance and scalability across cloud environments. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance data processing capabilities. Cross-functional collaboration: Working with data analysts, engineers, and scientists to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions; as well as to ensure the best experience for our customers. Document data processing workflows, best practices, and technical specifications for knowledge sharing and maintainability. Provide considerate and timely review of your peers' design proposals and pull requests.

Requirements

Probationary Period - All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service. Probationary Period - A person who is required to go through a probationary period and then is transferred, promoted, demoted, or reassigned before he or she completes such period is required to complete the remainder of the probationary period in the new position. Key Eligibility Requirements: U.S Citizenship - Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Selective Service Registration - Males born after December 31, 1959 are required to be registered with the Selective Service System or prove they are exempt from having to do so. Personal Identity Verification (PIV) - Must provide 2 forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. These documents must be unexpired original or certified copies. Education

A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. How you will be evaluated

Your qualifications will be evaluated based on your application materials (e.g., resume, supporting documents), your responses on the application questionnaire, and your responses to all assessments required for this position. Applicants who disqualify themselves will not be evaluated further. You must meet or exceed the cut score to be considered. You will not be considered for the position if you score below the cut score or fail to complete the assessment. Cheating on an assessment may also result in your removal from consideration. Rating: Your application will be evaluated in accordance with the Service's Merit Promotion Plan. A quality group rating will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. If qualified, you will be assigned to one of three quality level groups, Superior/Best Qualified, Highly Qualified and QualifiedCategory rating will be used to rank and select eligible candidates. Referral: Eligible applicants rated in the highest quality group, may be referred to a selecting official for consideration. Candidates, if required to participate in a selection interview (telephonic and/or in person at the discretion of the Selecting Official in accordance with hiring practices), will be interviewed in quality group order. We will not reimburse costs related to the interview such as travel to and from the interview site. If you are a displaced or surplus Federal employee (eligible for the Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)/Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP), you must receive a rating of Highly Qualified or better to be rated as "well qualified" to receive special selection priority.
