Summary

This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense. Title 5, United States Code, Section 9905, "Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense. This position is part of the Department of War, War Media Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for developing policies, directives, and guidance to support cybersecurity operational requirements.

Duties

This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated December 22, 2023. As a IT Specialist (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Develops policies, programs, and plans related to cybersecurity operations in the TSO area of responsibility to include working directly with agency internal, and external partners. Develops policies, directives, and guidance to support cybersecurity operational requirements. Responsible for analyzing, planning, and developing cybersecurity for networks and systems related to cybersecurity operations in the TSO/AFN HQ area of responsibility. Serves as a subject matter expert for cybersecurity engagements with WMA partner systems, determines long range program objectives, and develops strategy for achieving those objectives. Performs a variety of technical support and advisory duties within the AFN HQ IT portfolio. Provides technical review, validation, and oversight of all proposed cybersecurity projects. Coordinates and provides oversight for all National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 eMass Security Control Assessments, Site Assistance Visits, Command Operational Cyber Readiness (CORA), and Cyber Service Provider Evaluations in support of assigned TSO and AFN HQ and systems.
