Summary
This position is located at Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, Office of Audit or Office of Inspections and Evaluations. As a Performance Auditor, you will serve as an Auditor in support of the assigned program area(s).
Duties
As a Performance Auditor, you will: - Conduct complex managerial and financial audits and special assignments to assess program efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with program laws, regulations and other provisions. - Conduct valid and reliable research to analyze internal and external information to assess risk factors and identify high-risk areas. - Document in audit work papers the results of audit review, using correct formats, including source, purpose, conclusion, and results. - Identify and use complex specialized audit techniques to achieve audit objectives and identify appropriate statistical sampling methods, quantitative methods, and computer technology. - Conduct effective meetings and conferences with auditees at all levels, including executive management.

Education
Degree: successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting; OR A combination of education and experience: at least four years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: - A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or - Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
