Summary
This position is in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) and may be assigned to any branch. The OCFO has responsibility for all FSIS financial management, budget, performance and improvement activities, audit liaison activities, cost analysis and estimation activities, and managing the development of investment strategies in support of investment program initiatives.
Duties
Develops, modifies, or provides input to project plans; researches information and coordinates data collection activities with personnel within and outside FSIS.
Drafts reports for comment and leads or collaborates on the development of significant findings and recommendations.
Stays abreast of developments in evaluation, policy analysis, survey design, qualitative and quantitative analyses, food safety, food security, food inspection systems, and regulatory enforcement.
Reviews and analyzes new and proposed regulations to determine impact on program operations and management; provides advice and support to management personnel for best utilization.
Works directly with program officials to ensure written responses are consistent with FSIS policies and comply with GAO and OIG requirements; prepares communications to auditors and obtains clearances.
Serves as team or project leader; organizes and coordinates contributions of team members; prepares final reports and briefs FSIS management officials.
Identifies information needs for program managers by applying evaluation and survey techniques to gather management information for FSIS decision-makers.
Conducts audit liaison and coordination functions with GAO, OIG, and outside entities; plans, coordinates, and attends conferences; analyzes prior audit issues and prepares advice for senior managers.
Maintains FSIS systems to ensure tracking of audits, audit reports, recommendations, and status; initiates follow-up as needed
