Duties

You will serve as a Senior Consultant on active cases involving targeted and mass violence, insider threats, ideologically motivated actors, stalking, domestic terrorism, and cyber-enabled threats.

You will perform specialized psychological autopsies/death reviews and interview/interrogation consultations.

You will apply structured professional judgment tools (e.g., TRAP-18, WAVR-21, HCR-20, CPIR) to evaluate threat vectors.

You will extract psychological data from case files to provide insight into mental illness, personality, diverse motivations, pre-incident indicators, and escalation pathways.

You will recommend threat management and long-term monitoring strategies grounded in behavioral science and investigative best practices during operational case reviews with agents, analysts, and leadership.

You will apply DON and Department of War (DoW) guidelines to guide policies on human reliability screening, special personnel selections, and counterintelligence/counterterrorism principles.

You will deliver effective briefings and training to NCIS personnel and the broader law enforcement community on warning behaviors, threat typologies, crisis intervention/de-escalation, and risk communication.

Education

A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university, including successful completion of an APA-accredited clinical internship. Active, unrestricted license to practice psychology in at least 1 of the 50 U.S. states or the District of Columbia.
