Duties
You will present realistic photographic renderings of events or occurrences, which requires using a high degree of ingenuity and imagination.
You will create images from a wide variety of materials and processes that includes still photography in the studio and in the field.
You will modify images, video, and text using advanced software to effect design, style, layout, and sequence.
You will plan projects and use verbal, written, and visual communication to interpret, collaborate, and understand needs and constraints of the project.
You will collaborate with the customer to determine the materials and techniques most suitable to achieve their goals.
You will use video equipment, scanners, digital capture equipment or conventional artists materials to generate finished products.
Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: For the GS-11: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled; OR Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled; OR Obtained an LL.M. that is related to the position being filled; OR A combination of experience and higher level graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of required education plus the percentage of required experience must equal one hundred percent. For the GS-09: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled; OR Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled; OR Obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled; OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of required education plus the percentage of required experience must equal one hundred percent. For the GS-07: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled; OR Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled; OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of required education plus the percentage of required experience must equal one hundred percent.
