Summary

This position is in the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology (OIT), located in the End User Operations (EUS). The incumbent performs a combination of duties; phone support, desk-side technical support, and bench-top diagnosis and repair. The primary duties and responsibilities include resolving customer related software and hardware problems In accordance with established policies and procedures.

Duties

Major Duties Plans and delivers technical support including troubleshooting, installation, removal, moves, system knowledge assistance/training in response to customer requirements. Provides a variety of IT support services essential to the effective operation and performance of VA IT systems implemented at the end user location. Installs and configures VA approved software applications, troubleshoots & maintains all VA approved customer hardware/software applications. Utilizes experience, discretion, judgement and knowledge in the planning, execution, operation and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure. Diagnose and resolve customer reported system incidents, problems, and and events. Install and configure hardware, software, and peripheral equipment for system users in accordance with organizational standards. Install and maintain network infrastructure device operating system software (e.g., IOS, firmware). Troubleshoot system hardware and software. Telework: May be authorized at Manager's discretion. (Ad Hoc) Virtual/Remote: This is not a virtual nor a remote position. Physical Demands: The work is sedentary, but may involve intermediate periods of walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, regularly moving (up to 50 pounds) computer components and supplies, reaching, pulling, and working at a keyboard and monitor. Subject to call back outside tour of duty. Working Conditions: The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
